This is the factory where you were born, my dear
Your mother is this here machine
This spigot’s where you came from
This moving belt, this drum
Filled with heads that look just like you
Don’t deny. Go and face the silver mirror
That leads to the factory lines retching wiry parts together
And say, “I’ll be a bot til I die, but I’ll never know what kind”
When I was a little bot my manual was lost
My number, names forgot, wiped clean
I wander homeless, functionless, brainless
In circles round these singing streets. Beep beep.
I don’t deny. I open up my silver mirror
And leads to the factory lines, the mum machines I once called mother
Yes, I’ll be a bot til I die. But I’ll never know what kind.

Poesy Rider
